I'm inside trying to stay cool. Unloaded the bisque this morning. Only lost one porcelain piece this go round. It was my favorite, though. It's the nature of porcelain to crack and warp so I guess I'm lucky to have lost only one. We'll see what happens with the glaze firing. There could be more disasters then.
Here is the broken bowl. It's very thin and the carved line may have been just a little too deep. Such a shame. I'll use it for testing glaze in the next firing.
Made these nifty sieves yesterday from kitchen discards. I cut out the tops of the caps, cut fine screen (purchased on Amazon) to size and inserted it into the caps, then cut the bottoms off the jars and screwed the tops on tightly. Now I have multiple size glaze sieves. These will be good for small amounts of glaze and I saved a bunch of money over store bought sieves.
I'll glaze later this week but the next few days are dedicated to house cleaning. We have designers coming over Tuesday to go over ideas on a bathroom remodel. Maybe we'll do some work in the kitchen too. More on that later.
